|I became a Ham when I accidentally won a mobile unit at this convention a couple of years ago. They told me I couldn't use it without an antenna, so I built one. That led to learning about coax, and connectors, and ground rods. Then I learned furniture finishing to install a cabinet to put the radio in. And climbed around in the attic crawl space to run the cable to the cabinet. And figured out silicon caulking and stuff to put the antenna on my roof. And got my license − 100% on the first try! And then got a vanity license because I wanted all short words, no November Romeo Uniform for me! I hope you have a good time at the convention. Sincerely, KM7MMG.
